VMware Updates VCP Cert

Saturday May 30, 2009
VMware, a leading vendor of virtualization products, is updating its VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification to reflect its newest product, vSphere.

VMware states that the VMware Certified Professional on vSphere 4 beta exam will be available June 29th, and the exam goes live on Aug. 1.

There are a number of paths to become a VCP4, as VMware is calling it. The easiest is to currently hold the VCP3 credential, which merely requires passing the new test. The others involve getting additional training. Note that VMware requires authorized training to get the VCP.

vSphere is VMware's recently announced virtualization platform, replacing VMware Infrastructure 3 (hence the VCP3 name). Virtualization is a fairly new and fast-growing area of IT; it offers new opportunities for employment and certification.
