Upcoming Citrix Cert Focuses on Virtualization

Thursday June 11, 2009
Citrix, the industry leader in remote application delivery, is expanding its top-level administrator certifications to encompass the growing field of IT virtualization.

The Citrix Certified Enterprise Engineer (CCEE) for Virtualization, and the Citrix Certified Integration Architect (CCIA) for Virtualization recognize the increasing role virtualization plays in Citrix' product offerings.

The certifications will be available in the Fall/Winter timeframe, according to Citrix. Current CCEE and CCIA holders have an upgrade path: CCEEs will need to pass the "A15 -- Engineering a Citrix Virtualization Solution" exam to add the virtualization moniker, while the higher-level CCIA will have to pass that exam and "A16 -- Architecting a Citrix Virtualization Solution."

Note that those upgrade paths are available available for about another year: after June 30, 2010, candidates will have to drive the the entire certification roadmap to get the CCEE and CCIA for Virtualization designations.

According to an article in Certification Magazine, the CCEE is more for engineers and high-level administrators implementing virtualization solutions, while the CCIA is targeted more at designers and architects of virtualization infrastructures.
