Definition: Another professional level certification, the CCIP is for those who work with end-to-end Cisco solutions involving telecommunications technologies including including IP routing, IP multicast, cable, DSL, content networking or IP telephony.

This certification requires three exams, and although it's not required, a CCNA is a recommended prerequisite. You will have to recertify every three years by taking the CCIP recertification exam.

To Obtain:

  • You must first earn the CCNA certification.
  • Must pass the Building Scalable Cisco Networks (BSCI) exam #641-901.
  • Must pass the Multicast and Cisco QOS exam #640-905.
  • Must pass either either a Cable, MPLS, or Security elective.
  • Each exam costs approximately $125.
  • Must recertify every 3 years by passing the CCIP recertification exam.
