New Novell Certification-Certified Directory Engineer

Novell is expanding its certification program to include a new certification entitled Certified Directory Engineer. The certification is based on passing tests on Novell's Directory Service(NDS). The certification will train and certify individuals on integration of industry-leading directories and directory-enabled solutions.
Certified Directory Engineer certification is targeted at consultants and senior level engineers involved in the design, implementation, optimization and maintenance of Directories and Directory solutions. The certification will feature remote testing via dial-up connection to live directory environments and will require annual certification. The courses will be available this month and remote testing will begin early next year.
The certification will consist of a three course, three test certification program involving:
- Directory Architecture, including LDAP
- Advanced Directory Architecture
- Advanced NDS Tools & Diagnostics courseware.
However, to qualify to take the exam a candidate must have a current certification from one of the following vendors:
Based on the certification that a candidate currently hold there are different migration paths. This appears to be a trend in certification of certifying authorities working together to create certifications. After the candidate passes the exam, an application must be submitted to Novell.
Conclusion
In addition to the new Novell Certified Directory Engineer, Novell also offers the following certifications: Certified Novell Engineer,Master CNE, Certified Novell Administrator(CNA),Certified Novell Instructor, and Certified Internet Professional.
