Description: As part of the vendor-neutral Security Certified Program (SCP) sponsored by Ascendent Learning, the SCNP is an advanced security certification designed to test knowledge of high-level security topics.
The CompTIA Security+ certification is a recommended prerequisite for both SCP certifications.
Costs: Each exam costs $180. Register through VUE.
Recertification: You will be required to recertify by taking the Solution Exam yearly.
Requirements:
- It is recommended that you hold a Security+ certification from CompTIA.
- You must pass two exams:
- Advanced Security Implementation (ASI), exam SCO-501, covering:
- Cryptography - 5%
- Digital Signatures and Certificates - 15%
- Advanced Topics - 15%
- PKI Technology - 20%
- Strong Authentication - 20%
- PKI Policy and Architecture - 25%
- The Solution Exam (TSE), exam SC0-502. This exam covers one domain: Security Scenarios. Although the exam is multiple choice, it is a challenging collection of questions, some of which cover multiple pages. The exam will cover Firewalls, Intrusion Detection, Operating System Security, Risk Analysis, Security Policies, Signature Analysis, Virtual Private Networks, Router Security, Cryptography, PKI Planning, Digital Signatures and Certificates, Biometrics and Strong Authentication, Email Security, PKI Policy and Pilot, Smart Cards, Desktop Security, Wireless Security, Law and Legislation, and Computer Forensics.
