Oracle Certifications

Description:

Oracle offers several certifications from the associate level to the master level. These are designed to test your knowledge of Oracle applications and databases. Costs:

Exams cost either $90 or $125, depending upon the exam. The hands-on labs for the Master levels cost $2000. Training classes range in price from a low of $450 for an online course to a high of $3000 for a classroom course.

Recertification:

Oracle requires that you follow upgrade paths to continue your certification. If you are an OCP DBA, you can take a single exam to upgrade your certification. Currently there are upgrades available to Oracle7.3, Oracle8, Oracle8i and Oracle9i DBA OCPs.

There are also upgrades for OCP developers that are taken based on release. You must take an exam for each release in order to upgrade. Currently upgrades are available for Oracle Developer Release 1 and/or 6/6i

Certification Paths and Requirements:

Oracle 11g DBA Certified Associate, Professional and Master
The Associate level requires two exams. The Professional level requires an Associate certification, one exam, and a required hands-on course. The Master level requires additional coursework and one exam.

Oracle 10g DBA Certified Associate, Professional and Master
The Associate level requires one exam. The Professional level requires an Associate certification, one exam, and one approved classroom or online training course. The Master level requires additional coursework and one exam.

Oracle9i DBA Certified Associate and Professional
The Associate level requires two exams. The Professional level requires an Associate certification, two exams, and one approved classroom or online training course.

Managing Oracle9i on Linux
This is a special accreditation for OCP DBAs who work on a Linux platform and requires one exam.

Oracle9i PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate and Forms Developer Certified Professional
The Associate level requires 2 exams. The Professional level requires an Associate certification and 1 exam.

Oracle Forms 6i Developer Certified Professional
This is an intermediate certification that requires four exams.

Oracle9i Application Server Certified Associate
This beginner level certification requires one exam and is recommended in addition to an OCA or OCP.
