2005 Certification Salary Survey Results

Are you making the salary you deserve?

by Dori Reuscher
for About.com

As expected, our salary survey results for 2005 argue loudly in favor of certification. Certified respondents earned an average of $60,907, while non-certified individuals earned around $42,700. This trend has held true over the past three years that I have run this survey.

The rest of the statistics were a bit unpredictable. Men still earn more than women, although the gender gap has widened this year to $8,000.00, with women earning $51,029.50 and men at $59,060.07. The CCNP is the most popular choice for the next certification and is apparently the one to watch in '06 (be sure to check out list of the Top Ten Certifications to get in 2006). Those on the east coast earn the most, and the highest paid individual certification is the CIW Master Enterprise Developer. Who knew?
