COMSEC Certified Specialist Program

Description: Based on the idea that you cannot truly demonstrate competence through a written exam, the C2SP certification also requires a hands-on lab exam. You are expected to know how to "identify and analyze risks, configure access control lists (ACLs) and firewall rules, define web URL filters and email SPAM rules, install and tune IDS configurations, and much more". COMSEC offers non-mandatory, but highly recommended, training for the C2SP program.
Requirements:
  • Must pass written exam with a minimum score of 80% correct.
  • Must pass hands-on examinations with a minimum of 80% task completions.
  • Must pass both exams, the written and hands-on, to be certified.
  • Recertification requirements include maintaining continuing professional education credits through seminars or other industry related training.

COMSEC offers four individual Specialist certifications, course title followed by certificatipon:
Firewalls & Perimeter Defense
* COMSEC Certified Firewall Security Specialist (C2FS2)
Securing Wireless Operations
* COMSEC Certified Wireless Security Specialist (C2WS2)
Securing Linux Systems
* COMSEC Certified Linux Security Specialist (C2LS2)
Computer Forensics and Cyber Investigation
* COMSEC Certified Forensic Specialist (C2FS)
