There are several components of an operating system or computer such as the hard disk, memory, processor, and many more. These components are called objects. An instance can be defined as each occurrence of an object. For example, if there are three hard disks on a computer, it means there are three instances of the hard disk (the object). An instance cannot exist without an object's existence and there can be multiple instances of a common object. Therefore, the number of objects cannot be greater than the number of instances.
